Chattogram Port to Remain Operational During Eid-ul-Fitr Holidays to Keep Supply Chain Uninterrupted

To ensure a smooth supply chain and uninterrupted import-export operations, the Chattogram Port and Customs House will remain operational throughout the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr holidays, despite a nine-day national break.
Md Omar Faruk, Secretary of the Port Authority, confirmed that cargo handling, container delivery, and other port operations will continue during the holidays, except for an eight-hour suspension on Eid day from 8am to 4pm.
Officials have been assigned across departments to maintain services, while banks such as Janata Bank and One Bank will operate within the port area to facilitate payments and clearances.
Ruhul Amin Sikder of BICDA said private container depots will also operate during the holidays, closing only on Eid day. He noted that congestion typically increases before and after Eid due to lower container deliveries.
The Chattogram Customs House will also remain open, with a duty roster in place to ensure continuous customs clearance and export facilitation at the Chittagong EPZ.
However, importers may still face difficulties due to a temporary ban on truck and covered van movement three days before and after Eid, although export shipments are exempt from this restriction.
